Wow. Quentin Tarantino fans are insane: Part I

I have gotten maybe 5 comments on this blog from people outside of Tumblr in almost a year of maintaining it.

After my rant about “Inglourious Basterds” last night, I’ve received two, TWO, hateful comments from crazy indignant Tarantino fans.

Exhibit A:

You do realize that it wasn’t supposed to be historically accurate, right? It was a “what if…?” movie. Not once did Quentin or anyone else claim that Inglourious Basterds was about true events.

I am an ardent feminist myself and I don’t see why you think Shoshanna was grafted here. HER PLAN took down the Nazi high command. Donny and Omar just happened to be in the right place at the right time to take a few out with them. And, yes, she died. Characters die sometimes. Likeable ones, even. Her death was an injustice and you were supposed to get upset about it.

You want honorable noble characters? Why are you watching a Tarantino film? His films are ALWAYS commentaries on how even our heroes do and say horrible things. Every film of his focuses on the human element and how we never live up to what people think of us. Frederick Zoller’s character in IB was a perfect example. Hans Landa, Aldo Raine, etc.

You really missed the entire point of this film. You’re free not to like it, but damn. How did you ever arrive to the conclusion that this movie 1) was supposed to be an accurate depiction of history and 2) that it was a film about honorable men? It’s called Inglourious BASTERDS.

Congratulations, crazy. You’ve entirely missed the point of my rant. But thanks for playing.

Oh, and for the record, I was watching the movie because my husband wanted to see it, and I wanted to watch it with him. I’ve always hated Tarantino. Crazy.
