This is why I hate family politics.

Since I was 10, my dad and I have shared a love for Bob Dylan and his music. My dad has been a fan much longer than me, obviously, but of his four daughters, I was the only one that understood his fanatic love for Dylan.

Despite several missed opportunities, neither of us have ever seen him perform live.

I will be in Chicago visiting my family this weekend. This is the first time that all of my sisters and I will be in the same state in over 2 years.

Guess who else will be in Chicago this weekend? Dylan. He will be playing three shows at a tiny venue for $50 a ticket.

It’s unlikely that my father and I will get to live out our lifelong dream of seeing Dylan because my three sisters will be undoubtedly angry at us for leaving in the middle of our family reunion.

I very rarely wish I was an only child. But. Sigh.
