Rules for buying vinyl

  • Complete albums only. No greatest hits collections, compilations, or singles. (We made an exception for Dylan, though.)
  • Great albums only. Vinyl is made to be listened to start to finish, so we don’t buy albums with only one or two great tracks.
  • We don’t buy scratched, warped, or otherwise damaged vinyl, no matter how cheap.
  • We’re less strict about covers. They may be torn, worn, or slightly damaged, but we typically skip it if the cover is stained, warped, or mildew-y.
  • We try not to spend more than $5 a record, but exceptions can be made in some situations (particularly for the Beatles or Dylan, because finding playable vinyl for either of them for under $5 is next to impossible).
